Make sure on the narrow section just before Double O Arch to look east to where there is some space between the fins in the middle, which is where the primitive trail cuts back to Landscape Arch. There are eight arches on the full 7.2-mile loop. Shoes with proper friction are a necessity to navigate narrow ledges friction climbs and long stretches of deep sand. At Double-O Arch, there is the option of adding a 2-mile primitive loop Appropriate hiking shoes are a must on this trail. There are large signs from the start to lead in the direction of other arches. From there, the trail becomes more technical as it tours between other arches. The 1-mile hike to Landscape Arch, is a near highway, simple hike. On weekends and holidays, this area can be crowded, if you are planning to run other than the full primitive loop, you may want to go early in the morning on those days. On the primitive loop that starts 2 miles from the trailhead at Double O Arch, a 2-mile primitive trail scrambles up and around fins, narrow ledges with exposure and long periods of deep sandy trails back to Landscape Arch. From a near highway to Landscape Arch a mile in, to charging up inclines of Sandstone “fins.” There are many arches to explore. The Devil’s Garden area has a fun variety of trail experiences.
